Reminder:

Tomorrow our grade 2/3 class will be having a Class Halloween Celebration.  If you would like to send in any snacks, please ensure that everything is nut free.  Please check all labels carefully.  If it says “may contain traces,” please leave it at home.  We want to make sure everybody is safe at school.  Healthy treats such as cheese, crackers, fruits, and vegetables are always welcome.  Students may wear costumes or orange and black tomorrow.  Please be advised that toy weapons are NOT permitted at school. 

In addition to our class celebration, the grade 8 classes are hosting a Halloween dance.  They are asking for donations of $3.00 to enter.  The funds will help to support the costs of their graduation trip and go towards those affected by the recent hurricanes in the Caribbean.

Looking forward to a fun day of celebration!

Monday, October 23rd

Finish Spelling pages 30-31
Finish Math - gr 2 (2 pictographs: arm lengths and favourite fruit)
                    - gr 3 (page 59 #5 &6)

Reminder: tomorrow the students have Library.  If they have their books at home please make sure they bring them back to school tomorrow as they will not be able to sign out a new book until the previous ones are returned.

The presentation today was a huge success!  The students loved it.  Ask them to tell you all about it.

Monday, October 16th

Homework:
Finish Spelling pages 25-28

This week is a review week.  The students will be reviewing all the rules and words that have been studied thus far.  Our test on Friday will be a selection of words from lessons 1-5.  10 words will be chosen for the grade 2 students and 3 words will be selected for the grade 3 students.

Tomorrow the students will be attending a presentation in the gym.  The students have been asked to bring in $4.00 to help cover the cost of this amazing opportunity!

Thursday, October 12th

Homework:
Spelling test tomorrow
Math test tomorrow

Students will be expected to:
* represent numbers using numerals, number words, models and drawings
* represent and rename 2-digit (grade 2) /3-digit (grade 3) numbers with numerals and words, models and drawings
* round numbers to the nearest 10 and 100 (grade 2's will only be rounding to the nearest 10)
* compare and order whole numbers
* use numbers to describe order

Reminder:
Tomorrow is picture day and pizza day.  It is NOT a dress down day as students are expected to be in uniform for school photos.
