Tomorrow our grade 2/3 class will
be having a Class Halloween Celebration. If you would like to send in any snacks,
please ensure that everything is nut
free. Please check all labels
carefully. If it says “may contain
traces,” please leave it at home. We
want to make sure everybody is safe at school.
Healthy treats such as cheese, crackers, fruits, and vegetables are
always welcome. Students may wear
costumes or orange and black tomorrow. Please be advised that toy weapons are NOT
permitted at school.
In addition to our class celebration, the grade 8
classes are hosting a Halloween dance.
They are asking for donations of $3.00 to enter. The funds will help to support the costs of
their graduation trip and go towards those affected by the recent hurricanes in
the Caribbean.
Looking forward to a fun day of celebration!

This week is a review week. The students will be reviewing all the rules and words that have been studied thus far. Our test on Friday will be a selection of words from lessons 1-5. 10 words will be chosen for the grade 2 students and 3 words will be selected for the grade 3 students.
Tomorrow the students will be attending a presentation in the gym. The students have been asked to bring in $4.00 to help cover the cost of this amazing opportunity!

* represent and rename 2-digit (grade 2) /3-digit (grade 3) numbers with numerals and words, models and drawings
* round numbers to the nearest 10 and 100 (grade 2's will only be rounding to the nearest 10)
* compare and order whole numbers
* use numbers to describe order
Reminder:
Tomorrow is picture day and pizza day. It is NOT a dress down day as students are expected to be in uniform for school photos.

On Thursday, September 28th we will be having our first school mass in memory of Ms. Barrera. All parents are welcome to join us in the gym at 10:00 am.
Our Terry Fox run is scheduled for Friday, September 29th, starting at 1:00 pm. The rain date for this event is Monday, October 1st.
The students are bringing home information sheets for the Little Jammers program. Please check the front pocket of their agenda.

Please make sure your child has a refillable water bottle at school. They are encouraged to keep their water bottles on their desks. With this extreme heat they need to stay hydrated!
Today was the first day with our classroom restructure. As of today, room 121 is a grade 2/3 class. We welcomed our new friends and said "see ya around" to some other friends. We started our day with a fabulous presentation in the gym. Ask your child to tell you all about it. The students also worked on word study, patterning in math (gr 3's wrote their math test today), French, and at the end of the day, physical education. Every Monday the students will be dismissed by Miss Cronin as they are in gym right to the end of the day. The dismissal routine will be as usual, but you will see Miss Cronin, not myself.

The students are bringing home Terry Fox permission forms to be signed and returned back to school. They are also bringing home student information forms. Please review and make any necessary changes, then return to school.

Today we began the first unit in mathematics (Pattering). Each student completed a diagnostic assessment so I could get a feel for where everybody is currently in their understanding.
Today we also began our first unit in Science (Forces and Movement). The students investigated various forces in action and identified forces as either a push or a pull.
In Language, we began our first unit of word study. The students have their weekly list words in their agendas. The weekly spelling tests will be on Fridays.
